“Out of the Black” by Royal Blood
BRIEF HISTORY -
Danny Aguilar is a third generation superstar, starting his career as El Nieto del Super León (the grandson of Super León). His father of course being El Hijo del Super León (the son of Super Leon). Hailing from the northeast corner of México, the Super León luchador family has been one of the top draws for nearly 45 years in that region. The León family has taken more masks in luchas de apuestas battles than any other family in lucha libre history, so it came as quite a shock when El Nieto del Super León lost his very first lucha de apuesta to an unassuming rudo named Warhog.
The fans were so disappointed, that Danny Aguilar’s first match under his own identity two weeks later was ruled a no contest when the crowd would not stop throwing garbage at him in the ring and the show had to be stopped. Aguilar attempted to address the crowd over the mic, but the booing was so loud and persistent that he had to leave the ring without uttering a word. Even El Hijo del Super León was booed out of the building when he attempted to speak on his son’s behalf.
For a short while, Aguilar considered quitting lucha libre forever, but his father convinced him to continue his career outside of México. He is out to redeem himself in the eyes of the fans and most importantly, his family in the hope of being able to return home and wrestle where he belongs.
PREVIOUS INJURIES -
Nothing of note.
SPORTSMANSHIP -
Will offer his hand before the match if the opponent will take it and will offer his hand after the match if he feels his opponent has earned his respect.
STYLE -
Aguilar is transitioning from a purely lucha libre environment to a more heavyweight environment, incorporating bits of strong style and “lucharesu” into his repertoire. While trained by his family, he is heavily influenced by the likes of modern day Japanese stars like Kazuchika Okada and Shingo Takagi. In Lion’s Road, he will dial down the lucha flare (flashy twists & spins) for a more hard hitting impact approach.
FINISHING MOVES -
1 “The Lion’s Roar” - Diving Reverse Crossbody from top turnbuckle (same finishing move used by his father and grandfather for the last 45 years)
2 “Circle of Life” - Running somersault reverse DDT (Naito’s Destino)
SIGNATURE MOVES -
1 Lionsault
2 Fireman’s Carry Gutbuster
3 Slingshot Somersault Senton
4 Octopus Stretch
