The backstage was bustling and alive as tonight's show had everyone energized. In the parking area, you could see a Security sign in for anyone trying to get inside the building. The guard on duty has his head down, staring at his phone as someone approaches.
SECURITY I'll need current Identification and--
On the counter falls a championship belt. The guard looks up angry at being startled but sees Jason Cashe standing before him. He didn't know Cashe but he recognized him and knew he was supposed to be here.
SECURITY I'm sorry. I still need to see some ID... It's my job.
JASON CASHE See this belt right here?
Nodding towards the belt on the counter surface. The guard nods that he sees it.
JASON CASHE That there is the Lions Road Heritage Heavyweight Championship... Do you see this belt?
Lifting up another belt, Cashe lays it over his shoulder. The security guard squints to read the words on the belt and says it as he reads it.
SECURITY Mainstream World Heavyweight Champion... Okay?
JASON CASHE Do you know what is missing?
SECURITY Ummm…
JASON CASHE The King of Lions. K-O-L! And see...
Leaning closer to the security guard, as if to tell him a secret.
JASON CASHE I am here to obtain that. I am here to take what I have chased for years now... Are you going to prevent me from gaining entry?
SECURITY Umm... No?
Pulling the Heritage Heavyweight Championship from the counter top, Cashe adjusts the Mainstream Title on his shoulder.
JASON CASHE So then you no longer require my ID... good day to you!
Cashe tries to step through the check point but the bar preventing entry does not raise.
SECURITY Yeaaaah, no, I'm gonna still need to see some ID... Protocol. It's my job.
JASON CASHE I need to speak to your supervisor...
This wasn't how Cashe wanted to start the night.
SAM HEWITT From the gateway to the west, St. Louis, Missouri! Hello fight fans and welcome to the Strong Style Summit! Tonight is night one and we've packed the card with four outstanding first round matches.
BRIAN SHELZI One hundred percent! We here at the NWF and LRX have brought some big names and some familiar names on board. You're going to see former World's Champion, former Heritage Champion, former Iron Champion and former World Tag Team Champion. That's right, humanoids - he's done it all. James Edwards will go head to head with "The Beast" Blake Mitchell. Mitchell may not have as many accomplishments on his resume but the man's tough, physically and mentally. You know what sold Duke Womack on the guy? He served in the US army as a trauma surgeon. He's seen some shit, so an in-ring challenge might pale in comparison.
SAM HEWITT The Rock n' Roll God, a newcomer to Lion's Road will take on the D-i-OGee Jason Cashe.
BRIAN SHELZI
Never do that again.
SAM HEWITT Cashe joined Lion's Road in the summer of 2018 and quickly became a fan favourite. He's unconventional, he's a "Scrap Action" fighter and a veteran of the squared circle. However, RNR is too. Both men made their debuts all the way back in 2001 a--
BRIAN SHELZI RNR hasn't left that year judging by his appearance.
SAM HEWITT He claims to have been shot in both knees, he's won some titles... and this one may not go the longest but it should be a fun battle.
BRIAN SHELZI Jack Mace vs. Kenji Hattori. Now this one should be a fun battle, too. Mace is the Wrestling Bear - he stands 6'5" and weighs 288lbs. Hattori is a fresh face, a youngster - the youngest in the promotion at 20 years old. He's 6'2" / 229lbs and he's shown us that he's got some gusto, but will he have the ability to take down a bear?
SAM HEWITT Don't forget the man on the outside, Riel Buck. Hattori's manager - he could play a big factor in things. Our final first round match pits Scott Sterling, all 6'8" / 225lbs against Hammerstein, the American Monster. Hammer showed up by surprise last week and laid out some young lions. Many thought he should pick on someone his own size and well, Scott Sterling towers over him. Hammer holds the weight advantage, but there's a six inch difference in height and of course reach. Sterling's got the wingspan.
BRIAN SHELZI Hammer's great in the pocket, so he'll have no issues getting up close in the clinch and neutralizing that reach.
SAM HEWITT And to top it all off... we're going to have highlights from the World's Championship Press Conference between AJ Knight and David Troy so don't go anywhere!
The picture cuts to Scott Sterling standing in his gear, a black leather vest added for entrance attire. Behind him is the LRX backdrop.
SCOTT STERLING So here we are, it's the Strong Style Summit and the winner gets a crack at the World's Heavyweight Championship.
Scott nods his head.
SCOTT STERLING Scott Sterling - We all know that I should already should be in line for a shot at the World's Championship, but I will do what I have to do just like always...
Scott clears his throat.
SCOTT STERLING Who am I facing in the first round? None other than Hammerstein. A name known far and wide in the wrestling world but guess what? Your name means nothing to me! You're just another stepping stone on my path to me getting what I want! AJ Knight, David Troy, it doesn't matter - you keep my belt warm because I am coming for what is rightfully mine!
Scott stares into the camera as the picture fades out.

"Highway to Hell" by AC/DC plays as "The American Monster" Jacob Hammerstein walks out. Instead of walking to the ring, Hammerstein opts to walk over to the announce position. Hammerstein shakes Shelzi's hand, then Hewitt's. SAM HEWITT I'm sure you've got something to say, but you've got business to attend to in the ring.
Hammerstein gives Hewitt the side-eye.
HAMMERSTEIN Thanks for the heads up, Sammy. No how bout you shut your mouth and get ready to call the ass kickin' I'm about to give this punk kid.
The American Monster looks to Shelzi.
HAMMERSTEIN How's it, Shelzi?
Shelzi sits up straight, a grin on his face.
BRIAN SHELZI Goin' great, Hammer! A pleasure to have you out here!
Hewitt rolls his eyes as Hammerstein smiles. Hammerstein looks up to Sterling, who is waving him on to get in the ring. He points at the newcomer.
HAMMERSTEIN Be patient, kid. I'll kick your ass in due time.
Hammerstein turns his attention back to the announce team.
HAMMERSTEIN Sammy, do you know why I'm here?
SAM HEWITT Well at the last show, you said…
Hammerstein holds his hand up, stopping him mid-sentence.
HAMMERSTEIN Don't say anything about last show, Sammy. Holly's still pissed about what I said about her pregnancy eating habits. But that's okay. I'm gonna pick her up an Extra Large Italian Cream Cake on the way home and that'll cheer her up.
Hewitt gives Hammerstein a look that says "You said it, not me." Hammerstein is nonplussed.
HAMMERSTEIN I'm here because it says LION'S ROAD on the marquee. Duke Womack called me and asked if I wanted to be in on it, and we talked financials. Let's just say this. I would have come here and fought for free, but, hell, I'm gettin paid very VERY well for my services.
Hammerstein looks toward Sterling, who is in the ring, sitting on go. The American Monster points at him.
HAMMERSTEIN And that brings me to you, you tall drink of water. I hear you were a great athlete in high school, a real big shot. Me? Hell, I was whatcha call a late bloomer, but I think I did alright for myself. I've been a World Champion many times over, for multiple companies. And not a champion of some pissant company that slaps the word World on their title to fake some clout. REAL World Championship Titles, and let me tell you something. Being in the ring with me is the closest you're gonna get to winning a World Title or The Strong Style Summit. It's time, kid. It's time for your brush with greatness. Time for you to be another guy who can tell their grandkids that they got their ass kicked by The American Monster, Jacob Hammerstein.
Catch, Sammy!
Hammerstein tosses the microphone over his shoulder to Hewitt and charges to the ring.
MASON MARVELLE Ladies and gentlemen, this is a first round match in the Strong Style Summit! It is to be fought over a fifteen minute time limit with one fall, one submission or a knockout to decide the winner! Introducing first from Nashville, Tennesee! He weighs in at two hundred and twenty five pounds... SCOTT STERLING!
Sterling raises his arm and then does a couple shoulder rolls before settling in.
MASON MARVELLE His opponent from the Tohono O'odham Nation Reservation! He weighs in at two hundred and forty one pounds... THE AMERICAN MONSTER - HAMMERSTEIN!
Hammer removes his sleeveless shirt.
MASON MARVELLE Your referee for this bout is Robbie Morris!
Robbie Morris calls for the bell and the two circle around, Hammerstein does a quick go behind and applies a rear waist hold. Sterling calmly grabs hold of an arm, wiggles it from the grip and sends him up and over with a hip toss! Hammerstein rolls out of the ring as Sterling claps his hands, happy to have gotten into Hammer's head so early. The American Monster takes a walk around the ring, Sterling eggs him on - "C'mon, big guy!" but Hammer chuckles and calmly says "Shut your mouth!" before climbing back up onto the apron. He gets through the ropes and they circle again, a quick kick to the gut catches Hammer and a follow club to the back sends him down to his knees. Sterling stalks his prey as Hammer tries to crawl to the ropes, but he gets grabbed and Sterling Irish whips him. However, it gets countered and Sterling is sent for the ride - Hammer bounces off the adjacent ropes looking for his signature POUNCE but Sterling stops dead in his tracks and lays the boom with a body check. Hammer falls to the mat, but storms right back to his feet and gets in Sterling's face... and pie faces him!
SAM HEWITT Scott Sterling just served up a Zdeno Chara sized body check to Hammerstein who was charging in at him. Sterling did a dead stop and let Hammer's momentum do the work and it doesn't look like the American Monster likes it one bit.
BRIAN SHELZI I played hockey as a kid, Sambo. Some rich history in the PNW and you bet your ass I'm excited about the Seattle Kraken, but getting hit like that is embarrassing. That's the kind of hit that'll start a hockey fight.
Sterling tries to respond to the pie face, but gets clapped by an elbow that wobbles him back to the ropes. Hammer grabs him by the wrist and tries to whip him out, but no sir says Sterling who hangs onto the ropes. Ham says OK, fine and blasts him with a second elbow to the face. Hammer rushes to the opposite ropes, but Sterling tries for a lariat - Ham ducks it, rebounds off and slaps into him with a lariat of his own. The problem is... Sterling stays on his feet! Hammer shakes his head, hits the ropes again and tries for a second lariat but Sterling ducks and grabs him in a rear waistlock...
GERMAN SUPLEX!
Sterling gets up and instinctively plays to the crowd of young lions and LRX staffers, telling them to make some noise and there's a few hoots and applause. Sterling stomps on Hammer as he lays retreated in the corner, but breaks on the count of four. Hammer gets up as Morris warns Sterling about the five count. Sterling pays no need and goes back to the now standing opponent, kicks him in the gut and pulls him from the corner. Hammer breaks free and attacks the leg with a chop block! With Sterling now grounded, Hammer picks up the leg and drops an elbow across it! He pulls the foot up as he grinds his elbow into the knee, wrenching it as Sterling uses his other leg to kick Hammer off! Hammer goes right back to the leg, grabbing it and clamping on a spinning toe hold!
SAM HEWITT A Funk family favourite!
Hammer keeps spinning around, avoiding being kicked off as much as he can. Sterling claws his way across the mat, inching toward the ropes from the centre of the ring as Hammer tries to keep the pressure on and maintain good position but ultimately the height plays a factor and Sterling gets to the ropes.
BRIAN SHELZI Okay, so it wasn't the clinch fighting I was talking about earlier but Hammer sure brought his ass down to size in a hurry, didn't he?
Hammer is forced to back off as Sterling rolls away from the ropes and gets to a knee. Hammer blasts him with an elbow shot, but Sterling shakes his head. Hammer slams his head into Sterling, but the big man invites another so Hammer happily obliges! The second headbutt has little effect... so Hammer backs up into the ropes and springs off...
STERLING SCOOPS HIM UP ONTO HIS SHOULDERS!
AIRPLANE SP-NO!
Hammer slides out and attacks the leg once more. Sterling clutches it in pain as Morris checks him over. Hammer moves in for the kill, positioning him in the centre of the ring and tries for the spinning toe hold again but Sterling's foot sends Hammer careening into the corner turnbuckles. After shaking out the cob webs, Hammer charges back to the centre of the ring and eats a huge belly to belly slam! Sterling crawls to the corner to pull himself up, bad wheel and all, but this allows Hammerstein to recover...
OR SO WE THINK!
Sterling launches himself into the air and takes Hammer out with a lariat! He hobbles to his feet on one good leg and peels Hammer off the mat, he chucks him into the corner and hoists him up onto the top rope before adjusting his legs for a superplex. Hammer wises up and headbutts Sterling as he's climbing up, forcing him to land on his injured leg. Hammer comes off the top with a flying tackle that would make Road Warrior Animal smile. Hammer covers and hooks the leg!
1...
...
2...
NO!
Hammer says he's done screwing around and grabs Sterling up off the mat and signals for the Screwdriver suplex, affectionately known as the Hammersteiner. Try as he might though, Sterling isn't going up. Hammer breaks his attempt but eats a kick before he can do anything. Sterling grabs the doubled over Hammer and tries for the powerbomb, but the knee buckles! Hammer pulls free, but swings and misses...
BACKDROP DRIVER!
Sterling dumps Hammer on his head, but cannot follow up immediately. Sterling crawls, clawing his way across the mat and drapes an arm over his opponent.
1...
...
2...
...
FOOT ON THE ROPE!
Sterling is in disbelief!
BRIAN SHELZI A hellacious backdrop driver that would've ended a regular man's evening, but Hammerstein stays alive in this one!
SAM HEWITT Precious seconds ticked by though. I have to wonder if Sterling would've gotten the three if he was in condition to follow up immediately after.
BRIAN SHELZI Would've, could've, should've.
Sterling pulls Hammer up to his feet, sticks him between his legs...
POWERB-NO!
Hammer headbutts him, knocking him off balance and landing back on the mat. He grabs Sterling...
INSIDE CRADLE!
1...
...
2...
...
3!
BRIAN SHELZI Bravo!
Hammerstein rolls out of the ring as Sterling rolls onto his stomach, none too pleased with the result. Hammer pounds his chest and raises a fist as he backs up the aisle, ignoring Morris' attempt to raise his arm. Sterling gets up and limps to the corner as we throw it to the replay.
BRIAN SHELZI So here's what Hammerstein did that was so brilliant. He's been working the leg the entire bout, he gets this inside cradle and his own leg hooks Sterling's bad wheel! So any attempt to push out, kick out - whatever - hurts Sterling and you can bet your last dollar that Sterling's salty about that one.
SAM HEWITT A great fight to open up the night and we've got plenty more where that came from so don't go away!

Just as the cameras cut to backstage, the doors to the parking garage open and in walks Jason Cashe. Finally getting past security, he doesn't look too happy. In each hand he has a championship hanging from his grip but as the door shuts behind him, he brings up the Mainstream Championship and slings it over his shoulder. With both hands, he looks down at the Heritage Heavyweight Title. A Championship that the NWF and LRX decided not to carry with them from Lion's Road.
JASON CASHE At one time this might have been enough. Heritage is important! Yet in this moment? Standing in this hallway, for this promotion and the history that it carries? It is only second place. I don't care if it's LRoad, LRX, NWF, ABC or 123 because if there is a wrestling promotion with the King of Lions Championship being recognized.. I will be there! You can put in the David Troys, the James Edwards, the Sevilles, the AJ Knights or the Blake.. hahaha! Blake Mitchell's of the world because I am not satisfied, I cannot be happy until I am the Kay Ohh El Champion! So Heritage?Taking his eyes off the Heritage Title, he scans the area around him. Nodding as he finds exactly what he is looking for, Cashe approaches a recycle bin. JASON CASHE This is a false Heritage. I am coming for the real thing...Letting it drop into the blue bin. It thuds against the bottom. Cashe sits in a paused state as if letting thoughts and ideas play in his head. Snapping to the right, he leaves the scene. One championship remained and one was in his sights.
Justin Seville sits in a dimly-lit room, at a small round table. Seville was noticeably silent during last week’s “Throwback” episode which prominently featured past title bouts which included his failure to capture the King of the Lions title when he faced off against champion Julian Cutlass as well as AJ Knight. The match that started one of the longest feuds in Lion’s Road history and one that likely still haunts Seville to this day.
In fact, from his iPhone that is laying on the table, the closing moments of that match can be heard. It was like poison to Seville’s ears. He was visibly frustrated as the commentary commented on him being eliminated by Knight. Seville shuts his eyes for a moment, before locking the phone to cease the audio.
A figure walks in from behind Seville, stopping just short of where Seville is seated. Seville lifts his head, sensing the man’’s presence.
DARNELL CANE It's SO good that you've put this match behind you, Snake. Obsession over such things is rarely... healthy.
Cane had a devious smirk etched across his smarmy face, knowing full well that Seville still took this failure seriously, to this day. It ate away at him. Perhaps even factored in during other big matches he would later have, again falling short more often than not. Seville did not respond to Cane, instead just turning to face him. That usual malice was still evident in his eyes and facial expression. Something Cane was no doubt happy to see.
DARNELL CANE Have you seen the brackets for the Strong Style Summit?
Seville averted his gaze for a moment. Of course he had seen.
JUSTIN SEVILLE Yes.
DARNELL CANE I had you omitted, at my request. You know why?
Seville’s blood boiled; you could tell. He finally stands from his chair, now nose to nose with Cane.
JUSTIN SEVILLE No. So, why don’t you spell it out for me.
DARNELL CANE Because you’re a failure!
Seville’s fists clenched. He nearly clobbered Cane right then and there. Cane was not a foolish man, however. He knew that is how Seville would react, his face lit up with an evil grin as Seville's breathing increased, then slowly went back to normal.
DARNELL CANE Your mind is fractured! You have been carrying this burden for THREE years! And it has affected everything in your career that has happened since April 20th, 2017. You have carved an obsession out of AJ Knight, but has beating him senseless brought you any closer to what you want? NO! So it's time to relinquish him as the villain of your story and look at the man in the mirror.
JUSTIN SEVILLE What is it exactly that you want?
Again, that devilish smirk made an appearance.
DARNELL CANE I want the same things that you do. We aren’t that different, when you think about it.
Seville scoffed.
DARNELL CANE I want chaos! Destruction! I want a cyclone ripping through a rural town! I want you to make everyone pay for what YOU have done to YOURSELF!
Cane turned to the camera.
DARNELL CANE The Strong Style Summit doesn't have a Cottonmouth, but that doesn't mean he isn't lurking in the grass. His anger will fester and as the months grow colder, he'll need somewhere warm - and that's when he'll strike. When he's cold, hungry and most volatile. He will unleash his inner demons on all of you and anyone deemed responsible will be piledriven straight to hell. It won't be pretty, but revenge never was.
Once his mind wraps itself around a higher level of thinking, he will abandon the past.
He smirks.
DARNELL CANE And you will all pay.
He looks at Seville again, and the anger seems to have subsided. It’s been replaced with a smile.

MASON MARVELLE Ladies and gentlemen, this is a first round match in the Strong Style Summit! It is to be fought over a fifteen minute time limit with one fall, one submission or a knockout to decide the winner! Introducing first from West Hollywood, California! He weighs in at two hundred and thirty five pounds... THE ROCK AND ROLL GOD!
RNR throws up the horns.
MASON MARVELLE His opponent from Decatur, Georgia! He weighs in at two hundred and twenty seven pounds... JASON CASHE!
Cashe does a salute, then turns it into the bird! RNR is not impressed.
MASON MARVELLE Your referee for this bout is Jerry Roberts.
Both men lock-up at the sound of the bell. Each is even in height and the RNR God holds a slight weight advantage as Cashe is looking a little trimmer than usual, citing "Champ shit" as his reason. RNR backs Cashe up into the ropes and referee Jerry Roberts calls for a break, but has to begin the five count as RNR lights him up with a chop to the chest, then a second. He grabs Cashe and Irish whips him into the opposite set of ropes, letting him bounce out - he tries for a superkick! Cashe ducks underneath, grabs him from behind...
UNDER THE INFLUENCE!
The leaping neckbreaker scores and Cashe covers him!
1...
...
2...
...
3!
Cashe sits up and dusts off his hands, then tells the camera "one down, two to go!" as Roberts raises his arm in victory.
BRIAN SHELZI I don't think we need to show a replay on that. It's probably longer than the match! Cashe strikes with the best neckbreaker in the business and of course that stamps his ticket to the second round!

Duke Womack stands in front of the press, David Troy is seated at his position behind the table. The wall is covered with the LRX logo and posters for the big title match, but noticably absent is the World's Champion himself. Womack checks his watch.
DUKE WOMACK I did tell him 3 o'cl---
Knight comes walking in, Womack clears his throat and gets a finger gun snap as a reply. AJ Knight takes his place at the table kicking his feet up on the table, slinging the belt over his shoulder.
AJ KNIGHT
So, who's got a question for the World Champion? Come on, don't be shy!A sea of hands shoot up, as AJ points to one of them. ??
Fred Zachary, Resthold Insider. Although you're the World Champion, this has been your first appearance in the NWF. What have you been doing in the meantime.
AJ KNIGHT I've been elevating the brand like only I could, winning titles, giving my personality. It's been a crusade of sorts while David Troy had been holding down the fort here. He's the castellan, I'm the King. Thanks for keeping my throne warm for me David, but I'll be taking it back now, seeing as I was kind enough to bring the crown with me. David Troy can only scoff and shake his head in bewilderment. DAVID TROY Really, AJ? All that time since you won that title, and you just NOW come back to the ring where you won it, why? Because Womack sent a truck of money to your door, or because he wanted to take you to court over that belt? Don’t make me laugh. You may be the king, Adam, but when it comes down to it, my name is Oliver Cromwell, and I’m coming to take the throne and your HEAD. You may have had my number two years ago, but I’ve learned quite a bit since then, so I won’t be the same wrestler you faced in the Laurentide Cup. A sea of flashbulbs lights up, and after blocking the light from his eyes, David points out to the crowd. DAVID TROY You there. You’re up.
??
Dan Scilken, Full Nelson Press. A lot has been said about your age coming into this match, that you’ll be… forty, when it happens?
DAVID TROY
Yes, my fortieth birthday is on the 24th, and the match will be on the 26th. And yes, I know I don’t look it. Chalk it up to veganism and a good skincare routine. He chuckles.
DAN SCILKEN
Well, while you clearly hold the edge in terms of experience, are you worried that your… physical condition going into the match?David shakes his head and side-eyes Knight. DAVID TROY Not at all. Anyone who’s seen me compete in recent years can attest that I’m as tough as anyone half my age in this ring. And while I fight a little more conservatively than someone with less miles and less concern for their joints than me, my proverbial “fight IQ” is unmatched. They say that as fighters go, the last thing to go is your hitting power; but rest assured, I have a whole stock of hurtin’ bombs ready to unload on the 26th, and with that and my experience, that title is as good as mine. A smirk. AJ cracks up a little bit. AJ KNIGHT It’s amusing to me that you think you’re the only one who’s learned something in the past two years bro. I mean hell, even back then I had enough fight IQ to give a guy literally twice my size one of the toughest fights of his career. But honestly David, how bright can you really be? It took you in the ball park of 20 years to remember you knew Muay Thai, and realize that “hm, maybe wrestling in the style I almost got killed using isn’t good at my age.” I mean I didn’t need twenty years to pick a style that worked for me, nor did I need a near death experience. So, who’s got the IQ there Cromwell? DAVID TROY HEY. Low blow, Adam. I came back from that ordeal a new man, and it made me grow up FAST. Remember when the WALL was running roughshod over Lion’s Road, who was the one fighting back against THAT threat? Sure as hell wasn’t you and that belt, Ace! It was ME! *I* was the one leading the pushback against Irvine and those MAGA dork cosplayers, with my own two hands! AJ stands up, furious. Duke Womack can only stand there, grinning. AJ KNIGHT Fighting back? Is that what you call it? Hanging in the background doing JACKSHIT until there was belts involved? Intentionally staying out of the fight not helping ANYBODY but yourself, when I’m trying to rally the troops! You can talk all the shit you want but I’m damn sure not letting you spin that revisionist history bullshit!
DAVID TROY Rallying the troops, you call it? I’ve seen Democrats that put more effort into fighting off a fascist menace than whatever the hell YOU were doing.
AJ KNIGHT Put that on Saint Pulver! I extended the olive branch he lit it on fire! I was the one who made the effort you were the one who got the glory! At this point it’s devolved into a screaming match between champion and challenger which Duke Womack has silence.
DUKE WOMACK Alright, let's settle down. Anyone got any other questions?
??
Chet Butler, Wrestling Odyssey. AJ, you and David Troy have had one of the most intense rivalries in the Great Lakes Territory, are there any worries about this bout?AJ KNIGHT I mean David Troy has what he always has. A Puncher’s chance. If he can just land that one shot, absolutely yeah he can beat me, and that worries me. But let me ask you this: where was that one shot two years ago? When he was much more limber? When he was quicker on the trigger did he ever land it? Nope. I feel confident he won’t now. DAVID TROY May not be as limber, but I went from rifle precision to shotgun power. Hit hard, hit wide, hit often.
AJ KNIGHT The best shot is the one that lands. Power doesn’t mean a damn thing if it catches the air. You’d think a striker would know that. DAVID TROY Didn’t even need a strike to finish you in Japan, Adam. Who knew Germans were your weakness? AJ KNIGHT And I didn’t even need 5 minutes to beat you in Toledo. You know, since we’re bringing up previous encounters.
DAVID TROY The past is prologue, after all, and it’s important that everyone gets the whole story leading up to when I knock that smug grin off your face and into the CHEAP SEATS, and get that belt around my waist once again! AJ points at him with the aforementioned smug grin.
AJ KNIGHT This smirk is permanent. I came out of the womb with this thing bro. But really, aside from that one night in Japan the story between us has always been the same: AJWINSLOL! And that story will continue at the Strong Style summit finale! AJ stands up holding his belt high over head, then leaves... but not before pushing his hip into Troy's chair on the way by. Troy gives him a look, Womack quickly moves between the two.
DUKE WOMACK Thank y'all for coming! We'll see you next week at the contract signing.

Darkness is what we return to. That is until the Beast, Blake Mitchell walks into the frame.
BLAKE MITCHELL
I have known James Edwards for many years. I have seen him grow as a wrestler, fight with his back against a wall to overcome adversity but I have also watched him crumble under the pressure.
Mitchell takes his thumb across his right nostril and look directly into the camera.
BLAKE MITCHELL You can win a title but why can’t you seem to hold onto it James? Is it because you’re a one hit wonder? Is it because you get so geared up to win the big one that you relax after you’ve done so? Whatever it is, you better come ready to face a beast! This Saint of old exists no more. I am relentless, I am bound and determined to send you home early from the Strong Style Summit!
EARLIER TODAY... A few hours before the show's start, a relaxed James Edwards sat straight in front of his locker wearing a plain black tracksuit. JAMES EDWARDS
Thanks for coming earlier to record this guys, I appreciate you taking time out of your busy schedule to fit me in. I don't mind doing these interviews. I need plenty of time before a bout to prepare, so letting me record this early is prime stuff.
The situation felt surprising being that Edwards was outright cordial to backstage staff. His speech pattern was also slow and deliberate as if he were trying to stifle his thick Kentucky accent. JAMES EDWARDS Tonight is a grand return of a company I love, in spirit at least. Great names of the past are gonna'--I mean going to lock horns and give the fans at home a right good show, and hopefully they'll do it the right way too.
He grinned. JAMES EDWARDSSo what do I mean by the right way?He held up an authoritative finger. JAMES EDWARDSWell, old chaps, what I mean by that is simple: go out there and follow the rules. We're sportsman by gosh, and we don't need to cheat to win. Heck, the best of us always follow the rules inside the ropes and outside of them too. There ain't--I mean isn't--a reason for us to be too beastly to one another. I know my opponent, Blake Mitchell, fancies himself one, but I'm appealing to his better nature here. Be the Saint tonight, Blake; lets give the fight fans a clean show, and may the best man win.
Edwards grinned again. Later the camera crew would joke he seemed high as a kite, or so they hoped because the alternative that Edwards was full of shit was too unbearable for thought. MASON MARVELLE Ladies and gentlemen, this is a first round match in the Strong Style Summit! It is to be fought over a fifteen minute time limit with one fall, one submission or a knockout to decide the winner! Introducing first from Lexington, Kentucky! He weighs in at two hundred and six pounds... JAMES EDWARDS! Edwards nods. MASON MARVELLE His opponent from Seattle, Washington! He weighs in at two hundred and twenty five pounds... BLAKE MITCHELL! Mitchell puts a fist in the air. MASON MARVELLE
Your referee for this bout is Jerry Roberts.
The bells sounds to begin the bout and Mitchell comes right out of the gate with a running lariat that puts Edwards on the mat! He pulls him up and throws him to the corner where he begins firing forearm shots at him. Edwards is rattled by the first few, but Mitchell gets cocky and turns to the camera asking where the Burning Heart is. He cracks Edwards with another forearm, but the Kentuckian stands up and gets forehead to forehead with Mitchell. He tells the Beast to hit him again, so he does... and then Edwards gives Mitchell one of his own! They go back and forth!
MITCHELL~! EDWARDS~! MITCHELL~! EDWARDS~! MITCHELL~! EDWARDS~! MITCHELL~! EDWARDS~!
BRIAN SHELZI When someone wants to see what causes CTE, just gif the last thirty seconds and send it to them.
Edwards switches it up and wallops him with a palm strike that puts Mitchell down to the mat in a hurry. Roberts steps in and forces Edwards backwards, beginning the ten count but Mitchell is up on his feet at four. Edwards kicks him in the gut and tries to hoist him up for a brainbuster, but Mitchell blocks it not once, but twice. He knees Edwards in the gut and drops him with a DDT! He rolls him onto his back and covers.

FOOT ON THE ROPE!
Mitchell looks up and shakes his head, then slaps Edwards for it. He pulls the Burning Heart up off the mat and shoves him back into the corner before charging in and drilling him with a knee to the head. Edwards falls out of the corner onto his hands and knees, Mitchell stomps on his back to flatten him out then grabs a leg...
STRETCH MUFFLER!
Mitchell tries to keep the hold applied and throw little pepper kicks at Edwards' head as he tries to navigate to the ropes.
SAM HEWITT I'll give credit where it's due, Brian - I don't think I've seen anyone do that before. Mitchell is disrupting Edwards' attempts to maneuver out of the hold, either escape or get to the ropes to force a break - by peppering with stomps or kicks to the head. Nothing fun about them.
Finally Edwards is able to get to the ropes despite Mitchell's efforts. The Beast pulls Edwards to his feet and clamps on a front chancery, looking to suplex him... he gets him up, but Edwards slips out and gets behind him! He clamps on a choke sleeper and Mitchell fights to the ropes, getting there within ten seconds of the choke being applied. Roberts calls for a break, Edwards releases the choke but grabs a rear waist hold and German suplexes Mitchell...
but he lands on his feet!
Edwards turns around into a single leg dropkick! Mitchell hurries to his feet, grabs Edwards and lifts him up for a powerbomb...
INTO THE BUCKLES!
Edwards hits with a thump, Mitchell spins around looking for the Blindside rolling elbow but misses! Edwards tries to slap on the choke again, but the effects of the earlier punishment catch up to him and he falls to the mat. Mitchell crawls on top, covering him.

FOOT ON THE ROPE AGAIN!
The Beast isn't happy. He pulls Edwards away from the ropes and makes a second cover!

KICK OUT!
Mitchell yanks him up by the ears and drops him on all fours, he hooks one arm... but Edwards fights the second being hooked. Mitchell gets fed up and tries to spin him out into the rolling elbow, but Edwards ducks it and strikes with a spinning backfist! Mitchell is dazed by the shot, but gets a second one for his troubles! He falls back into the ropes and bounces out - BACK ELBOW!
He falls face first and Edwards is on top of things, rolling him over for a cover!

3!
Edwards lays on top of Mitchell for a few moments, exhausted by the short brutal bout.
SAM HEWITT This was a war! These two men brought it from bell to bell - hard-hitting stuff all around.
BRIAN SHELZI Let's look at the replay... I like how Edwards times his final elbow, I think Mitchell was out on his feet from the second fist but Edwards cracks him with an elbow and if that didn't put him out - the landing did. Edwards acts fast, jumps on him for the cover not wanting to wait for the knockout count in case he wasn't finished. James Edwards took a beating, but there's a reason he's the Burning Heart and there's a definite reason why Blake Mitchell is the Beast. Both men brought it tonight.
Edwards bows to the downed Mitchell before leaving.

Back from break, we’re taken to the backstage area where a certain arrogant soulless ginger is standing by outside a door marked “Kenji Hattori”.
RIEL BUCK Ladies and gentlemen, and I assure you I’m using those terms loosely, for those of you born under a rock or are a troglodyte, like our esteemed ‘sheriff’, Duke Womack, my name is Riel Buck, and I am the manager of the greatest wrestler in this, or any other company, ‘Japan’s Greatest Export’ Kenji Hattori. I would let all of you take a glimpse of him, but at the moment he’s currently receiving oxygen treatments and is otherwise warming up for his match later tonight against Jack Mace. He scowls at the mention of the name.
RIEL BUCK Now, you might be asking yourself why Mr Hattori is currently receiving oxygen and the reason is very simple. As some of you may have heard by now, there is a company called BATTLE Japan currently in the midst of crowning their first ever HLC Heavyweight Champion in a round robin tournament. Kenji Hattori is currently participating in said tournament and defeated Falcon Hamada before immediately jumping on my personal airplane and flying here to take part in the Strong Style Summit, and once this match is completed he must immediately jump on my airplane and head back to Japan for his next match up. Therefore, my team and I are taking every precaution to ensure that Kenji Hattori is summering from minimal jetlag and is at his absolute best when he gets in the ring later tonight.
He puts his hands together.
RIEL BUCK This brings me to you, Jack Mace, if that is even your real name. I’m certain that you’re going to hear this and that it will make you feel confident that this is going to be some sort of cake walk. Well let me tell you something, you limey sasquatch, if you’re walking into this match with any preconceived notions of defeating ‘Japan`s Greatest Export’, you might as well get those ideas out of your thick skull! Not only will Kenji Hattori be battle ready when you two meet in the ring, but he is going to absolutely wipe the mat with you. You might be big and strong, but the physical gifts you’ve received from your bigfoot heritage are in no way a match for the speed and finesse of someone of the caliber of ‘Japan’s Greatest Export’ Kenji Hattori. While you’ll be lumbering around the ring, Kenji Hattori will be running circles around you. You will learn first hand that his chops can slice through trees and his kicks shatter stone. His knowledge of the human anatomy will allow him to attack nerves that will eliminate your power advantage. In less time than you can say, ‘Bob’s your neanderthal uncle,’ you’ll find yourself flat on your back, looking up at the lights as Kenji Hattori backflips off the top rope and stomps the breath out of your lungs, and all I have left to say about that is ‘Sayōnara!
Riel lets out a laugh at his little joke and offers the camera a slight bow.
RIEL BUCK Now if you’ll excuse me, I must assist ‘Japan’s Greatest Export’ Kenji Hattori with his final preparations. As always, ladies and gentlemen, the pleasure has been all yours.
The LRX/NWF logo fills the screen. Then...
One big bear. A Wrestling Bear! JACK MACE Oi! Riel Buck! Mate, for weeks, you've been flappin' those gums of yours to ANYBODY who will listen about how Duke Womack has been out to get you and your mate, Kenji. Well, I'd like to say on behalf of all the old fans of Lion's Road and the newer fans of the NWF watchin' the Strong Style Summit for GOOD WRESTLIN', I'm happy to help close that never-endin' river of garbage you've been spewin' since this place opened by knockin' Kenji outta this tournament!
He beats on his massive chest with a balled fist. JACK MACE
I came here to show the world that the spirit of good sportsmanship and good ol' fashioned hard work STILL means somethin' this day and age! Whatever issue you have with the boss man is your business, but at the end of the day, you better worry less about Duke Womack and more about what happens when I got your mate in me BEAR TRAP!
MASON MARVELLE Ladies and gentlemen, this is your main event of the evening and is a first round match in the Strong Style Summit! It is to be fought over a fifteen minute time limit with one fall, one submission or a knockout to decide the winner! Introducing first from Grewelthorpe, England! He weighs in at two hundred and eighty eight pounds... THE WRESTLING BEAR - JACK MACE~!
Mace pounds his chest and lets out a roar, Riel Buck guffaws.
MASON MARVELLE His opponent from Japan! Accompanied to the ring by his manager, Riel Buck! He weighs in at two hundred and twenty nine pounds... KENJI HATTORI!
Buck obnoxiously applauds his client, Hattori bows to Mace.
MASON MARVELLE Your referee for this bout is Cordell Garner!
Garner finishes checking over both men, gets Riel Buck off the apron and calls for the bell. The two men lock up and Mace overpowers him, chucking him down to the mat. Hattori gets back up and smacks his hands together, then a quick slap to his own face. He jogs around Mace in the centre of the ring and goes for another lock-up. This time, Hattori pulls a side headlock and Mace tries to power out of it but Hattori reestablishes his grip. Mace lifts Hattori up and throws him at the ropes, freeing himself. Hattori lands, but uses the momentum to hit a spinning heel kick. Mace doesn't budge. Hattori rushes to the ropes, springs off and leaps up for a crossbody block but Mace grabs him and flings him overhead. Hattori lands relatively safely, pops up and delivers a dropkick! The kick knocks the Wrestling Bear off balance and Hattori delivers a second dropkick to the leg, knocking him down to the mat. "Japan's Greatest Export" slaps on a grounded side headlock.
BRIAN SHELZI This kid's got a bright future, Sambo. Look how quickly he adapted and changed his gameplan on the fly. You get some kids in there and Mace would be hucking them back here to us after another flippy move, but Hattori cut him down to size and reapplies the side headlock on the ground.
The Bear gets back to his feet and chucks Hattori off into the ropes. The youngster from Japan psyches him out by acting like he's going for a crossbody, but instead stops and nails a rolling savate kick to the chest. Mace stumbles back into the ropes, Hattori grabs him and snapmares him to the mat before delivering a soccer kick to the back and once again applying a hold - this time, a chinlock with his knee driven into Mace's back. Around thirty seconds later, the Bear starts coming alive again and fights to his feet - Hattori lets go and blasts him with a couple quick kicks to the chest. Hattori goes back to the side headlock, Mace tries to push him off but Hattori drops to his knees - bringing big Bear Mace down to the mat with him. Buck slams the apron, then applauds his client but Mace roars to life and delivers a backdrop suplex! Hattori rolls back to his feet, but gets eaten alive by a running shoulder block!
SAM HEWITT Good grief! Jack Mace just sent Kenji Hattori into next week with that!
BRIAN SHELZI I hope he doesn't look at the brackets for the semi finals. It's not looking good after that one.
Mace pulls Hattori to his feet and blasts him with a Mongolian chop! Hattori falls to a knee, Mace grabs him up and shoots him into the ropes. On the return, Hattori says hello to the International Space System after a BIG back body drop! He lands with a thud and Mace covers!

...
2-NO!
Buck hits the apron, trying to show some support for his client. Mace brings Hattori back to his feet and headbutts him, but Hattori only staggers for a moment before delivering a blistering knife edge chop in response. Mace responds with another headbutt, Hattori turns away but hits a kick to the knee that catches Mace off guard. Mace howls, Hattori leaps into him...
BEAR HUG!
Buck is yelling from the outside, telling Hattori where the ropes are - Mace backs up a few steps to pull him away. Hattori reaches out, Buck leaps onto the apron behind Garner's back and pushes the rope closer but Hattori still can't grasp it. Buck hops down just as Garner's going to turn around. Garner senses something is amiss and questions him about it, allowing Hattori to stick both his thumbs in Mace's eyes! The Bear yells out in pain and Hattori slams his head into the bridge of Mace's nose! The Bear releases the hold, then Hattori falls to the mat... but strikes a few seconds later with a superkick to a blinded and staggering Jack Mace! The kick sends him down to the mat and he rolls out of the ring. Hattori looks poised to fly, but Garner turns and warns him he has to give him a few seconds. This in turn allows Riel Buck to strike Mace from behind with a forearm club...
but it doesn't have any effect!
SAM HEWITT Well, it was nice knowing you, Riel.
Mace turns around, his eyes all red and smiles as Buck backs up - shaking his head. Mace slowly picks up speed and chases Buck around the ring...
HATTORI NAILS A PLANCHA!
BRIAN SHELZI Oh my God! What excellent timing by the kid! Buck was not jogging around ringside - he was in a full on sprint and Jack Mace was right behind him! Hattori timed his plancha so well that he landed directly on top of the Wrestling Bear!
Mace is yanked to his feet by his body suit, then sent back first into the steel guardrail. Buck is yelling and cursing Mace as Hattori lights him up with chops, then grabs him and throws him back inside the ring. Hattori climbs up onto the apron and patiently waits as Mace slowly gets back up to his knees. Hattori leaps onto the top rope, crashes into Mace with a crossbody! With the big man on the mat, Hattori rushes to the corner and climbs up facing away...
MOONSAULT...
CONNECTS!
He covers!

3-NO! MACE POWERS OUT!
Hattori cannot believe it, nor can Riel! Hattori shakes his head at Garner and says "THREE!" but Garner shows him two fingers and says "TWO!"
SAM HEWITT It was an awfully close call...
Hattori is furious, but grabs Mace up off his knees. Mace clobbers him with a shot to the gut, Hattori doubles over...
MACE GRABS HIM IN A REAR WAIST HOLD!
GERMAN SUPLEX!
Mace gets up, ROARS and pulls Hattori to his feet in another waist hold...
GERMAN SUPLEX HOLD!

3!
Riel Buck is livid! He throws a fit on the floor, yelling at the camera to get out of his face. The Wrestling Bear gets to his feet and raises his arms in victory, Garner and the stage hands check on Hattori as Buck gets in and lays into Garner about the close two count.
BRIAN SHELZI There's the mark of a great manager, Sambo. He's letting the stage hands and medics do their work, but he's laying into the referee about his blown call.
SAM HEWITT What's he going to do? Challenge the fall? Actually, I wouldn't put it past him.
We get a replay of the fall in question, Garner's hand does not hit the mat before Mace powers Hattori off of him. However, Buck and Garner are not able to see this video as their argument ensues. Mace is shown walking to the back, very pleased with the result.
SAM HEWITT Fans! We are out of time, thanks for joining us for Night One of the Strong Style Summit! We're back here next week with Night Two! Edwards vs. Cashe and Hammer vs. Mace! For Brian Shelzi, I'm Sam Hewitt! Goodnight from St. Louis!
